Kim Kardashian’s Estate Plan Ensures She’ll Always Look Her Best

When you think of estate planning, it’s likely you imagine deciding who gets which assets. This is the reason many people give for avoiding it. After all, maybe you don’t have many assets. Or you think your situation is straightforward enough that your heirs won’t encounter any trouble.

That may or may not be true, but estate planning includes so much more than just divvying up accounts and property. It also means preparing for the possibility of mental or physical incapacity and helping your loved ones make medical decisions on your behalf.

This is not something most of us want to think about. But the truth is no one expects serious illness or injury to occur, and an accident or surprise diagnosis can suddenly leave you unable to care for yourself. You may even be unable verbalize what you want to happen to you.

By taking time now, you can ensure your family knows your wishes and honors them. Many people leave it to chance and live to regret it later.

So, it may surprise you to learn of one celebrity who has taken the time to plan ahead: Kim Kardashian.

What Kim Kardashian Revealed about Her Estate Planning

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Kim Kardashian shared that she had engaged in estate planning, and she made sure to share her priorities with those entrusted with her care in the case of her incapacity.

“I made a section that if I am so out of it that I can’t even communicate and I’m, like, [expletive] on myself, I definitely need my hair, my nails and my makeup done,” Kardashian said. “I want to look as good as possible.”

This is a detail that might have been overlooked by her caretakers, but it was significant to her. Everyone has different priorities, and what’s important to you may not be important to your loved ones.

Consider your own situation. Do you have pets? Collectibles? Cryptocurrency? A digital photo collection? A vast MP3 music library? digital books? Paypal account? YouTube account? These are the types of things that may have value to you – even a significant monetary value – but that value may not be understood by the people in charge of handling your affairs, either in the case of incapacity or death.

Your estate plan is about so much more than simply divvying up assets. It can help provide you with dignity in the case of a serious accident or illness and at the end of your life. It can ensure that the things you’ve built over your lifetime are handled the way you want.

By engaging in estate planning, you ensure you have the power to decide what happens to you and your property, even if you are unable to communicate what you want.
